Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner Review

**Pictures at the end :D

I recently had the opportunity to test and review some products from Smashbox Cosmetics. I received 2 of their Limitless Eyeliners: one in Onyx and one in Smoke. Smashbox has 8 different colors of this eyeliner available for purchase on their Web site for $19.00 USD (http://www.smashbox.com/LIMITLESS-EYE-LINER.)

Smashbox's Description

“Our new waterproof long-wearing liner provides bold definition that won’t smudge or budge for up to 8 hours. This creamy, easy-to-apply formula contains vitamin E and jojoba oil to moisturize and protect. The cap houses a unique built-in sharpener so you’ll always have the most precise application.”

Packaging

I really like the packaging for this product. I think it's very sleek, plus it has a handy built-in sharpener at the top. The pencil casing is matte, and the sharpener and the end of the eyeliner are shiny. I like the idea of the sharpener on the end, and I don't feel like there is anything that could go wrong with that, but there is a pin that blocks the opening to the sharpener, (see picture below.) At first I was very confused about how to sharpen the pencil, but it took me less than 10 seconds to determine that I had to take the small pin out. The cap fits onto the pencil easily and securely.

Shade

Onyx is a matte black. Not too much to say here. The light does reflect off of it, which gives a slight "gloss" finish to the product.

First Impression

The first time I swatched it on my hand, the tip broke off. :( I didn't think the product was very creamy, but it was smooth and applied with ease. After swatching the liner on my hand, it wouldn't budge. I really pushed hard on my hand and pulled out to try and get the liner to smudge, but all it left was a small track of a pale grey shade, which was barely visible. I immediately thought this might be a great liner for the waterline.

After Through Testing

I really think this product stuck to Smashbox’s claims! It was on for about 9-ish hours before it started to smudge, and yet the smudging was barely visible. This is a really great eyeliner, and I don't think I'll be going back to drugstore liners anytime soon. The product is very smooth, and the precise line you apply in the morning is still visible by the end of the day. I think everything about this product is truly great, and I would definitely recommend it.

Limitless Eyeliner in Smoke

Ingredients

Cyclopentasiloxane, Paraffin, C11-12 Isoparaffin, Polybutene, Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Ceresin, Ozokerite, Microcrystalline Wax (Cera Microcristallina, Cire Microcristalline), Tocopheral, Acsorbyl Palmitate. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019).

Shade

Smoke is a brown-grey with copper sparkles. I think I saw some green and blue specks in there, too ;)

First Impression

When I swatched this on my hand for the first time, I was very surprised. Despite the shimmer, it applied smoothly and creamily. I didn't know if the shimmer would necessarily show up on the eye or if it would just turn out to be the brown-grey color. I really think this would be great for a brown-grey smokey eye!

After Through Testing

The liner is very similar to the previous one in that it stays on all day. When I applied it to my eyelid, it just looked like a not-very-pigmented black, and, sadly, the shimmer was hardly visible. By the end of the day the color was still strong, But The Shimmer Had Run Slightly Under My Eye. Now this really isn't too much of a problem because once the shimmer ran down my eye, the shimmer was again barely visible. I really like this liner, but I wish the shimmer was more visible :( What is really great about the shimmer in this eyeliner though is that it really is just shimmer, not chunky glitter, so the liner really does glide on very smoothly.

Final Comments

Overall I think these are really great liners. Application is smooth, and they glide on easily. I really didn't have any problems, but the sharpener didn't work too great. It left the pencil part (not the product) uneven and bumpy, but since it didn’t affect the actual product, I think I can live with it :) I would definitely recommend this line of eyeliners to my friends and family.

The packaging.
The sharpener, and the pin.
Yes, I realize there is flash but it captured the colors. :D
